Retracting and Expanding Superior Security Gates

From time to time, mankind may invent a product that results from observations of natural phenomena, which humans adapt to suit specific purposes. At Sequre, we don’t have any proof that this has occurred relative to our retractable security gates, but it’s nevertheless interesting to wonder about such possibilities – the influence of Mother Nature on man-made concertina-type devices.

Tortoise Wins Again

Think of the tortoise, winning the security stakes – by withdrawing its head, stubby legs, and tail back into its shell at the first sign of danger. There’s the simple Gauteng garden snail, also not known for speed, but it does possess the handy ability to rapidly retract its entire body into the safety of the shell it occupies.

To the best of our knowledge at Sequre, no security gate manufacturer has claimed to have been influenced by nature, but one never knows…

Regardless of how the ideas for the latest retractable gate innovations came into being, it remains vitally important that new advancements are practical, functional, and effective, commensurate with effective security requirements and applications – keeping premises intact, whilst people and possessions within remain unharmed and safe.

Extendable and Retractable

It follows that man-made security measures such as safety barriers that are retractable are invariably extendable too. When a retractable gate is extended, it is in a closed position, barring unauthorised or unwanted persons from entering or exiting premises, providing that it’s locked properly with one or two security-grade locks.

When the barrier is unlocked and the security gate is retracted, it’s in the open position, allowing freedom of movement in both directions – entry and exit is unhindered.

Its ability to slide on a floor-mounted guide rail upon which it runs to fold up and stack to the side, completely out of the way, is the principal feature that provides this type of security gate with a distinct edge over other safety barriers that are likewise designed to control, permit, or prevent access.

Our expandable and retractable barrier options are custom made of bolt-cutter resistant material, and consist of two versions, respectively named Panther and Status Gates.

Status Barriers

Here is what you need to know about our Status gates:

  • Cross flights are 3 mm thick and also linked using our own unique Power Pin System
  • As in the Panther gate, 4 rows of these 3 mm cross-flights span across three lipped uprights, which feature the same patented robust design that is anti-corrosive
  • Strategically placed stainless steel rivets for durable strength
