Security Gates: How Modern Gatekeepers Enhance Security.

If you’re tasked with being a gatekeeper, whether literally or figuratively, you play a crucial role in deciding who or what is allowed through a gate or access-controlled entryway. This responsibility is vital for the safety and security of everyone within the premises protected by a security gate.

Traditional Security Gates

Traditionally, a gate referred to an opening in a wall or fenced-off barrier that enclosed a property or a significant city. As the need for defensive or early security measures grew, the opening was fitted with a moveable door or gate, which could be opened or closed to grant or deny access to persons; vehicles, such as carts, wagons, and carriages; and animals or livestock.

Gatekeeping was an official occupation, awarded to a responsible person who was entrusted with the job of admitting others or preventing them from entry at city gates. While on duty, the gatekeeper was accommodated in a gatehouse, a structure that provided the gatekeeper with shelter from the sun and inclement weather conditions.

Modern Gatekeepers

Semantics and roles have changed since, in keeping with the demand for enhanced security at individually owned premises instead of cities.

Gatekeepers’ roles have evolved to become those of modern-day home or business owners, people who hold keys (to the gates), and specialists like Sequre, who focus on the provision of sophisticated security barrier systems.

Last, but not least, modern security guards that are trained and tasked with access control at entry or exit points are also gatekeepers.

A Leader in the Security Gate Industry

Our company, Sequre, is a leader in the physical security gate and barrier industry. We specialise in the custom manufacture, supply, and installation of premium-quality security solutions, which offer our customers top-notch preventative and protective safety measures, designed to deter burglary attempts.

Our Security Gate Options

At Sequre, we don’t adopt a one-size-fits-all approach to security barriers, gates, and systems that are designed to prevent intrusion and break-in attempts of criminals, like burglars and housebreakers, who must be kept out at all costs to keep occupants and prized possessions safe and secure.

Being moveable or retractable, gates nevertheless offer flexible options – closed and latched or, better still, slam-locked to control access. Consequently, our security gates are designed accordingly. Here are the options we provide:

  • Our DIY gates offer two variants – strong, hinged, swing away gates and gates that retract and then swing open and closed.
  • Our retractable barriers open horizontally, concertina-style, to stack neatly away on one side of the opening, thereby allowing a clear view of the outdoor area. Our retractable gates are fitted with a dual lock system, a combined slam lock and deadlock, which are hallmarks of today’s best security gate locks.
  • Roller shutters operate vertically. When open, shutters roll up to form a cylinder, which is housed out of the way, above the opening. When closed, the roll simply unfurls within its side guides to become a uniform barrier, which is secured at the lower mounting frame. Our roller shutter barriers are designed with style, good looks, easy operation, and enhanced security in mind.
